ICC Nursing Students Have High Test Marks

The members of Itawamba Community College’s 2012 Associate Degree Nursing graduating class have achieved a 98.88 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN.

“The nursing faculty and the nursing students have been dedicated to passing the NCLEX-RN the first time,” said Dr. Donna Williams, director of the ADN program. “As a result, 86 out of 90 students passed the NCLEX-RN on the first try, and 89 of 90 passed the NCLEX overall.”

The NCLEX-RN is a national test that student nurses who have successfully passed the curriculum requirements for community college and/or university programs of study take in order to prove themselves competent in the knowledge of being a Registered Nurse,” Williams said.

The national standard has ranged from 87 to 89 percentile.

“We are so excited to reach 98.8 percent for our current 2012 graduates,” Williams said.

Of the 90 graduates, 82 (92 percent) are actively employed in the healthcare setting in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.
