“We are extremely proud of Johnthan and everything he has been able to do this season,” said Coach Grant Pate. “He’s put in a lot of hard work and dedication to have a successful sophomore season and we can’t be more proud for him to be able to earn this award.”

McGee averaged 16.5 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 block per game and hit a buzzer-beating three at Mississippi Delta to help the Indians stay undefeated in division play with a 75-72 victory over the Trojans after picking up a hard-fought, emotional double overtime victory 107-103 over East Mississippi.

“This is an award for the whole team,” said McGee. “We are a family and if not for everyone on the team doing their part none of the things we’ve been able to achieve so far this season would be possible.”

In the Indians’ double overtime win over EMCC, he scored 16 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and had 3 steals in the win.

McGee nailed his second game-winning shot of the season on the final play of the Indians’ road win over Mississippi Delta. He had 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and blocked 2 shots in the win.

For the week, he shot 59% (13-of-22) from the floor, 2-of-4 (50%) from three and 83% (5-of-6) from the free throw line.

McGee is the second member of the Indians (11-6, 6-0 MACJC North) to be selected conference Player of the Week. Fellow sophomore Alex Anderson (Memphis, TN) was selected for the honors in December.

ICC will be back in action Thursday night as they host Northeast Mississippi Community College starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Davis Event Center.
