GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Investigators in three counties continue to ask the public’s help in identifying at least eight Hispanic men who they believe are involved in a check-forging ring.

The eight men have cashed checks for thousands of dollars at Cadence banks in Clay, Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties. The checks were stolen from an area business, filled out to look like payroll checks and then forged.

The group started passing the checks in early February.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Columbus Police Department or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151.

It could mean a reward of up to $1,000.
