Iuka Plant Goes Six Years Without Lost-Time Accident

IUKA, Miss. (Press Release) – ATK (NYSE: ATK) announced today that its Iuka, Mississippi facility has reached two million work hours with no lost-time incidents. ATK achieved this record over a six-year period, spanning from February 2008 to October 2014.

Safety affects every aspect of our business, including our bottom line,” said Joy de Lisser, vice president and general manager of ATK’s Aerospace Structures division. “We are proud of our Iuka employees and their continued focus on safe operations and diligence in safety practices and processes.”

The ATK Iuka facility manufactures large composite aerospace structures for the Atlas V and Delta IV launch vehicles. The large structures measure four to five meters in diameter, range from one to 19 meters in length and are manufactured using advanced hand layup, machining and inspection techniques.

This is the second safety milestone recently attained by ATK’s Aerospace Structures division, reflecting the company’s enterprise-wide commitment to safety. The division’s Clearfield, Utah facility was also awarded the Utah Manufacturers Association (UMA) 2014 Workplace Safety Award of Excellence for outstanding performance in creating a safe workplace environment. The UMA award salutes companies that have made work place safety a top priority and provides recognition for companies based on best practices for eliminating workplace injuries.
