STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Parts of the Mississippi State University library were far from quiet, Friday.

It turned into a concert hall as part of the eighth annual Charles Templeton Ragtime Jazz Festival.

Musicians from across the country spent the day performing and giving seminars about the business and cultural history of American music.

“They are excellent entertainers, but they also do a lot of education at telling everyone about the value of ragtime, about the history of ragtime and jazz music, because it’s really the precursor to all of the other forms of American music that we hear today,” said Stephen Cunetto, festival coordinator.

There will be concerts both Friday and Saturday night as part of the festival.
