ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) – A federal judge has postponed the sentencing of man who pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to entice a minor for sex in Lee County.

Dennis John Papez had been scheduled for sentencing this week on one count of trying to use a computer and telephone to entice a 15-year-old.

He pleaded guilty in November in U.S. District Court in Aberdeen.

Papez’s lawyer asked for a delay, saying there is federal legislation pending that could give judges discretion in sentencing in similar cases.

The attorney, Greg Park, says in court records that the legislation could lower his client’s possible sentence below the 10-year mandatory minimum.
