Keep Tupelo Beautiful

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)-Despite the freezing temperatures this morning volunteers gathered to keep Tupelo beautiful.

Volunteers of all ages planted daffodils along North Veterans Blvd in Tupelo. The event was part of the campaign – “Keep Tupelo Beautiful”. Tupelo was once known for it’s gardens. One volunteer says she hopes the newly planted Daffodils will be here for future generations to enjoy.

“Beautification of Tupelo I have an article from the 1928 I think, when it was touting Tupelo as the garden center of the south. And I don’t think we can quite say that today. So we are working to try and restore that title,” says Doyce Deas.

Since 2008 hundreds of dedicated volunteers have planted over two hundred thousand daffodils in five locations throughout Tupelo.
