Lauderdale Nurse Accused of Stealing Drugs

MERIDIAN, Miss. — A Lauderdale County nurse has been arrested for illegally obtaining drugs from the nursing home where she was working, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Shannon Bomar, 36, of Lauderdale (in Lauderdale County), was arrested recently following indictment for acquiring or obtaining possession of a controlled substance or prescription by misrepresentation or fraud. The indictment alleges that Bomar, while working as a nurse at the Golden Living Nursing Center of Meridian, illegally took a quantity of Lortab tablets from the facility.

Bomar was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center. If convicted, she faces up to five years behind bars. As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The case is being investigated by Trey Rodgers and will be prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Brad McCullouch of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
