Lee County Murder Appeal Denied

Lisa SandlinJACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the conviction of a Lee County woman sentenced in 2011 to life in prison in the shooting death of her step-son.

Lisa Sandlin of Saltillo was convicted of murder in Lee County in the death of 35-year-old Kirk Sandlin.

Prosecutors say Kirk Sandlin died of a shotgun wound to the abdomen on Sept. 22, 2010, and that an argument led to the shooting.

Lisa Sandlin argued in her appeal that she didn’t consent to her husband’s testimony. Sammy Sandlin testified that he was present during the shooting and told police that Lisa shot their son.

The Supreme Court ruled Lisa Sandlin didn’t object to her husband’s testimony at the trial and could not raise it in her appeal.
