Library E-books Inventory Upgrade

[bitsontherun swehsHQb]STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – For even the most casual reader, it’s a new form of high-tech convenience and libraries are jumping on board.

Soon, almost every library in Northeast Mississippi will allow card holders to check out E-books for their electronic reading tablets.

There is a wide selection of reading material at the Starkville Public Library which boosts of being the first in the state to make e-books and audio books available from their website via the internet.

“And the e-books can be downloaded right on your computer, or your nock, or your kindle, I phone, I pad,” said Kara Roberts, Starkville Public Library.

For the last seven years at Starkville Public Library, e-books from the company Overdrive have been their choice.

Cardholders have been able to check out digital books from the library’s website.

“They have e-books that are from smaller press, so its not going to be your best sellers. It’ll be some from smaller press but they also work on nock, the new kindle fire, and the various phones and tablets. And you just download those and read them,” added Roberts.

The latest addition….e-books from Freading, thats reading with an F in front of it.

There is a different selection of books at no cost.

“The Overdrive has the newer books and some of the classics, so we wanted to go with something that had some of the smaller press books. Gives a wider range of books that our patrons can check out,” said Roberts.

The Lee-Itawamba County library system just recently has gone online with its own service.

Columbus and several others should be online by next month.

Children’s books are soon to be added to the collection of e-books at the Starkville Public Library.

Once the systems are done, its automatically returned to the library.
