Longtime District Attorney Drops Party, Has An Opponent

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Longtime District 16 District attorney Forrest Allgood will run as an independent and has an opponent for the general election.

Democratic Columbus attorney Scott Colom announced his candidacy Friday.

Colom is the city prosecutor for Columbus and is a former justice court judge.

Allgood was elected district attorney in 1989. He previously ran as a Democrat.

District 16 covers Lowndes, Clay, Oktibbeha, and Noxubee counties.
