Longtime Starkville Educator Passes Away

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A long-time Starkville educator has died.  Dr. Fenton Peters passed away Friday at a Meridian hospital after an extended illness.

Peters’ teaching career began at Henderson High School before desegregation. He went on to be principal at other schools in the district, including Starkville High School from 1976-1981. He was later named assistant superintendent of the Starkville School District.

Peters also served nearly two decades on the Oktibbeha County Hospital Board of Trustees. Century Hairston funeral home is handling arrangements.
