Longtime Tupelo School District Educator Retires

TUPELO, Miss (WCBI) – A longtime Tupelo School District educator is set to retire at the end of this school year.

Travis Beard has worked in education for 43 years, while 23 of those have been spent in the Tupelo School District.

He started his teaching career in 1968 as a teacher and coach. He later took the same title at Carver Elementary. He eventually became assistant principal at Carver.

Beard spent 20 years of his education career at Amory Middle School and was honored as Amory School District’s Administrator of the Year in 2002.

He was given the same award for the Tupelo School District last March.

A search for his replacement will be conducted by the school district.
