LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-Louisville aldermen vote to override the city’s planning commission. But they say it’s a good sign of the city’s growing pains. Aldermen approved plans Tuesday (1-15-13) for a new Family Dollar in the old State Farm building on Church Street. The planning commission had rejected the request because the plans did not meet required setbacks. But aldermen said the city should not turn down the company’s $1.5 million dollar investment. The company has promised to screen and take other steps to protect adjacent properties. The vote marked the first time aldermen ever have over ridden a planning commission recommendation.
