Louisville Hotel Tax

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The City of Louisville is looking to adopt a hotel a tax during Tuesday nights Board of Alderman meeting.

Under the authority of House Bill 1595, the city is authorized to levy, assess and collect from operating hotels or motels in the City which consist of six or more guest rooms.

The Mayor and Board of Alderman are expected to pass a resolution for a two percent hotel tax.

Mayor William Hill says, the city hopes to collect close to $50,000 annually with 50% of collections being given to Parks and Recreation in an effort to boost tourism for the area.

City leaders hope to present the resolution to the House of Legislation in order to have the tax on the ballot for June 4th.
