LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Student safety is just a swipe away for Lowndes County students.

The district is the first in the nation to start using a mobile app which allows educators to signal for help with simple swipe of their smartphone.

The safety solution not only automatically calls 911, but will pinpoint the exact location of the educator in distress.

School officials say having help literally at your fingertips is just one more way of providing peace of mind for parents and students alike.

The system is already online at New Hope, with the roll out at all other campuses set to take place over the next couple of months.
