Update: Lowndes County Crash Victim Airlifted To Tupelo Hospital

Lowndes County, Mississippi (WCBI) – A Lowndes County man remained in critical condition Wednesday night in a Tupelo hospital after his car collided with the back of a log truck.

State troopers say the crash happened on Highway 12, near Billy Kidd Road, about 3:30 P.M. Wednesday afternoon.

James Otis Gunter, 73, was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center after being cut out of the vehicle by rescue crews.

MHP says the 18-wheeler driver by Brian Rickman, 38, had just pulled out into the westbound lane when the crash occurred.

The accident remains under investigation.
