COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – “You will not be certified by the Lowndes County Democratic Executive Committee,” is what Lowndes County Democratic Executive Committee Chairperson Cindy Lawrence told Ward 4 Columbus City Councilman Marty Turner on Tuesday night.

Turner responded with, “That’s fine with me. Thank y’all anyway.”

Turner is officially off the ballot in the Lowndes County District 5 supervisor race.

He filed to run against longtime incumbent Leroy Brooks.

Brooks claimed Turner live at two different homes, one of which was outside of District 5.

During Tuesday night’s hearing Turner called witnesses and presented evidence.

Each candidate also gave a statement.

Turner declined to comment but told a committee member he would see them in court.

The committee also declined speak about the matter, citing possible pending litigation.

Ricky Hill is also running as a Democrat against Brooks.
