LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Lowndes County adopts an ambitious plan to repair more than 20 miles of roads this year.

Road Manager Ronnie Burns wants to use his $2 million paving and maintenance budget to pave 27 roads, covering almost 10 miles, and repair another 19.

Supervisors hope lower oil prices and fuel savings will mean more roads and work can be added this year.

Burns also wants to use some money for striping, to improve safety heavily traveled rural roads.
