Video: Maben Industry Looking for Tax Break

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) -A Maben industry undergoing an expansion gets a break.

Main Street Forest Products, which is now teamed with Main Street Casual Living, successfully requested a tax break at Monday’s (1/6) Oktibbeha County supervisors meeting.

By waiving Ad Valorem requirements, the industry can take the money that is typically paid on its property– and put back into its business.

Representatives say granting their request is a way supervisors are investing in the county’s future.

“We are looking for a tax abatement for going forward for the next three to five years, hopefully ten, because of the jobs that we’re bringing in and the investment that we have made in the property and the three buildings,” said Bob Klimek, MSFP Operations Manager.

The Ad Valorem requirements will be waived for three years.
