Maben World War II Veteran Turns 90

MABEN, Miss. (WCBI) — A Maben World War II veteran celebrates a milestone, Saturday.

Family and friends gathered at the Family-Life Center in Maben to celebrate Wyman Bishop’s 90th birthday.

Bishop enlisted in the Marines in 1943 where he served as a Sergeant for three years. He later joined the ROTC at Mississippi State University where he graduated a Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserve.

Bishop tells WCBI his secret to making it to 90.

“I just grew up on a farm, and I ate peas and cornbread and I didn’t party like some folks did when I was growing up, and I hadn’t later either, so just eat good food and take care of yourself,” says Wyman Bishop.

Bishop’s birthday was September 2.
