A MAN IS IN JAIL TONIGHT AFTER RAMMING INTO A NOXUBEE DEPUTY’S CAR, THEN LEADING AUTHORITIES ON A CHASE INTO LOWNDES COUNTY.

51-YEAR-OLD WILLIE HAIRSTON, OF CRAWFORD, WAS CAUGHT THIS AFTERNOON IN LOWNDES COUNTY.

THE CHASE BEGAN THIS MORNING WHEN NOXUBEE CHIEF DEPUTY TOM ROBY RESPONDED TO A DISTURBANCE CALL AT A HOME.

HAIRSTON JUMPED INTO A CAR TO FLEE, RAMMING INTO ROBY’S PATROL CAR AND INJURING THE DEPUTY.

INVESTIGATORS SAY HAIRSTON MADE HIS WAY TO LOWNDES COUNTY WHERE HE STOLE A PICK-UP TRUCK.

WITH HELP FROM HAIRSTON’S FAMILY, DEPUTIES FINALLY TRACKED HIM DOWN EARLY THIS AFTERNOON.

HAIRSTON IS BEING HELD IN THE LOWNDES COUNTY JAIL ON A NUMBER OF CHARGES.

MEANWHILE, CHIEF DEPUTY ROBY WAS TREATED AT NOXUBEE GENERAL HOSPITAL AND RELEASED.
