MANTACHIE, Miss. (WCBI) – The 26th Annual Mantachie Festival kicked off all weekend long with music from local artists and food vendors for families to enjoy. The started Saturday with a 5K where proceeds go to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis. Art and crafts vendors displayed everything from photos to hand made crafts. The committee coordinator says, the special event Saturday night is what separates the Mantachie festival from others.

“We are having a patriotic ceremony we have had four local guys from right here in our own Mantachie area that’s been active duty in Afghanistan and Candahar. The patriotic ceremony is to thank them for all they have done and serving our country and representing our area well,” says Tina Harris.

Fire works will follow the award ceremony for the soldiers.
