Mantachie Woman Arrested for Driving Through Cemetery

MANTACHIE, Miss. (WCBI) – Melissa Thayer, 47, was charged with destruction of public property after allegedly driving a vehicle through a public cemetery, destroying tombstones and markers during the joy ride.

Thayer allegedly ran over about 15 graves in Friendship Methodist Cemetery.

Authorities reportedly found pieces of Thayer’s vehicle at the scene.

She will face a possibility of $5,000 in fines and up to five years in prison if convicted.
