Marshall County Bank Robbery, Byhalia Man Charged

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. (WCBI)– A Byhalia man is behind bars after attempting to rob a Marshall County bank Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say Joseph Hammer, 35, of Whippoorwill Road, Byhalia, walked into the bank claiming he had a bomb and a gun, and demanded money from the tellers.

Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said the tellers were able to exit the building safely. Deputies arrived on the scene shortly after.

Hammer will have his initial appearance in justice court in Friday.
