MBN Arrests 32 Suspects in 37 Counties in Campaign Against Marijuana Growing

JACKSON, Miss. (Press Release) — The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics arrested 32 suspects in 37 counties in its annual campaign against marijuana growing, according to MBN Director Sam Owens.

Director Owens said the enforcement detail utilized a Department of Public Safety/Mississippi Highway Patrol helicopter and other aircraft to provide air support to the trained MBN spotters onboard.

As a result, agents on the ground seized 1,367 marijuana plants and charged those suspected of involvement with manufacture of marijuana, Director Owens said.

The MBN’s outdoor domestic cannabis eradication program was funded by a grant from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and ran from April 22 to October 31 this year.
