MDES Gets Workforce Education Funds

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi Department of Employment Security is receiving funds to improve workforce and education programs.

The $967,975 in Department of Labor money is part of $5.9 million being distributed to six states.

The Labor Department says in a news release the money will help the states to better understand how education and workforce development programs complement each other.

The department says information services being put in place will help the states collect high-quality data to improve their employment and training services and match workers with the job training program they need.

Other states receiving money are Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska and New Jersey.
