MHP Looking for Suspect in Multi-State Pursuit

ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) — At approximately 11 a.m. , Sunday morning, Troopers were called to assist Selmer Police Department (Tennessee) with helping apprehend a suspect wanted in a hit-and-run traffic crash. Selmer Police Department and McNairy County Sheriff’s Office tried to apprehend the suspect when he fled and refused to stop. Tennessee officials pursued the suspect into Mississippi and crossed US 72 east bound through Alcorn and Tishomingo Counties.

The suspect apparently rammed a Mississippi Highway Patrolman’s patrol car several times in Tishomingo County. After ramming the MHP unit, the suspect continued into Alabama on US 72 before turning onto a county road and abandoning his vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot into a wooded area.

The Trooper was uninjured during the crash (when the suspect rammed his unit).

At this time the suspect has not been apprehended.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is investigating the case in Tishomingo County involving the MHP unit.

Local authorities in Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama are working to identify and locate the suspect.
