ATTALA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System honored some pioneers today for helping Mississippians have better access to books.

Eleven men and women who helped to establish the library system were inducted into the Class of 2014 Wall of Fame. This is the first group of individuals to receive the honor. The Library System Executive Director, Richard Greene, has been involved since 1976 and is also an honoree at today’s ceremony. He says this is a simple way to show appreciation to those who paved the way.

“We’re honoring individuals from our 5-county area, which is Attala, Holmes, Leake, Montgomery and Winston Counties. So that they will be remembered and honored for their service. It’s a tribute to people that have brought us to where we are today,” says Greene.

Each honoree’s plaque will be placed in the County Library where they served.
