Miss. Deputies Confiscate 17 Pounds of Coke

BRANDON, Miss. (AP) — Rankin County deputies have confiscated about 17 pounds of cocaine during a routine traffic stop.

Sheriff Bryan Bailey says in a news release that deputies stopped a pickup truck on Interstate 20 about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Bailey says that during that stop, the deputy suspected drugs or contraband could be inside the vehicle, so it was taken to the shop at the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department. A search found the drugs.

The driver of the truck, Adrian Rojas-Jaimes of Houston, Texas, is being held in the county jail on a charge of possession of cocaine.

An initial court appearance is pending.

It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
