PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (Sheriff’s Department Press Releases) — Friday afternoon at 12:34 p.m., the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department received at call of a 55-year-old mentally challenged man had wondered away was missing from a home on CR 2121 in the Bunkom Hill Community.

The man could have been missing several hours before deputies were notified.  Deputies and Prentiss County Search and Rescue aided by SAR track dog searched for several hours in the area looking for the man.  He was eventually located at 5:31 PM.  The biggest concern was the fact that iwas getting dark soon and the tempatures were likely going to drop after the sun went down.

This is the second time this individual has wondered away from home.  The previous incident happened several years ago south of Booneville on one of the hottest days of summer.  The man was located and was dehydrated.

Deputies tried to limit the number of people actually in the woods so that their scent would not interfere with the dog tracking, while others were monitoring the roads in an effort to kept him contained in the area we believed he was in.

A Booneville woman remains in a hospital critical care unit and her husband is charged with DUI after a Prentiss County traffic accident.

Sheriff Randy Tolar says 40-year-old Ryan Henderson faces DUI, reckless driving, no insurance and other charges after the car he was driving rolled on Friday afternoon on Prentiss County Road 1371. He is free on $3,500 bond.

hIS WIFE, 40-year-old Toni Henderson, was air lifted to North Mississippi Medical center in Tupelo and remains in I-C-U.
