Missing Monroe County Man Found

Parker

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A missing Monroe County man has been found dead, the victim of an apparent traffic accident, authorities say.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department received a call at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday of a vehicle located in a thicket of trees along Athens-Quincy Road in the Athens community. Deputies found the body of 41-year-old Jeffrey Alan Parker inside the 1996 Chevrolet Camaro.

Parker was last seen driving the car in the Athens community Wednesday.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Tanya Willems says investigators found no evidence of foul play and it appears Parker ran off the road and crashed in an area not easily seen from the road. A gravel truck driver spotted the accident because his truck sat high enough off the road to be able to see down into the area where the car had crashed.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley says it appears Parker died from injuries suffered in the accident and that no autopsy is planned.
