STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/AP) — The Egg is headed back to Mississippi State, which won 17-10 against rival Ole Miss in overtime of the Egg Bowl on Thursday.

The Bulldogs went for it on fourth-and-2 from the 4 in overtime, giving the ball to Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott on a keeper for the touchdown. His counterpart, Bo Wallace, was inside the 5 and ready to tie the game, but fumbled the ball and MSU recovered.

Mississippi State got on the board first, when Josh Robinson plunged into the endzone from 1 yard out with a 1:36 to play in the first half. The drive, which began at the Rebel 30, occurred because of Ole Miss QB Bo Wallace’s third interception of the first half.

The Rebels answered with defense, pinning the Bulldogs at their own 2 just before halftime. MSU punter Baker Swedenburg never had a chance to get his punt off, as Collins Moore blocked it and Terrell Grant recovered to make it a tie game.

Ole Miss executed just well enough on its first drive of the third quarter, moving from its own 14 to the MSU 5. Andrew Ritter kicked a 22-yard field goal to make it 10-7.

For a long time that looked like it would be the final score, but MSU turned to Prescott. The quarterback, who coach Dan Mullen said on Monday was out until a possible game, marched the Bulldogs 59 yards on 13 plays. Kicker Evan Sobiesk tied the game with a 36-yard field goal with 2:21 remaining, but missed a 38-yard attempt in the final second that would have won the game.
