Video: Monday Thunderstorms Cause Damage

NORTH MISSISSIPPI and  WEST ALABAMA (WCBI) – From reports of hail, to toppled trees. A round of thunderstorms created a mess for residents in Webster, Oktibbeha Monroe and Winston Counties, and parts of West Alabama, including Pickens and Lamar Counties. Winds nearly reached 70 miles per hour when they moved into the area around 6:30.

In Columbus strong winds are likely to blame for a utility pole falling on a house on 23rd Street North. Smoke could be seen coming from the home. Here at WCBI, a 66MPH wind gust was recorded.

Power outages were reported on the East side of Highway  45 North and in the area around the former Lee High School. It could be early Tuesday before power is restored in some of these areas. 4 County power reported at least 2,100 customers were without power.

There have been no reports of injuries at this hour.

Please be on the watch out for fallen trees and power crews in these counties.
