MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Monroe County deputies have been keeping their eyes on a possible puppy mill. The following images may be disturbing for some viewers.

It was a horrific sight, as over 100 dogs were carried out of what seems to be a case of dog hoarding on Center Hill Road in the Lackey Community.

“We’ve been having some complaints about some dogs here in the community, also DHS come out here to do a home visit on a child, couldn’t find the child,” Sheriff Cecil Cantrell.

The puppy mill was discovered after what was supposed to be a child welfare visit. All different type of malnourished breeds were found in the house from shih tzu, poodles, shepards, pinschers and even puppies.

“Young puppies, older dogs eat up wit the mange, fleas. Also have dogs on the inside of the house that are living inhumanely. There are 2 per cage. They’re going to the bathroom there and there’s nowhere to exercise. It’s just a bad situation,” added Cantrell.

We’re told resident Cindy Ann House Umbel is wanted for questioning and charges of animal cruelty are pending.

“All the animals have some form of mange they got hair loss, some are under weight, the environmental conditions that they were living in is , feces and urine everywhere,” said Director of the Amory Humane Society Mitzie Smith.

The dogs have been turned over to Amory Humane Society and will be checked for chips to see if any of them have owners.

House-Umbel also has an active warrant with the Lowndes County Sheriff Department. If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Mrs. Umbel, you are asked to notify the Monroe County Sheriff Department.
