UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The couple that led authorities nationwide on a five-year manhunt, is back in North Mississippi.
Ramon and Janet Barreto were brought back to the Union County jail Sunday afternoon.
They face charges of manslaughter, three counts of child abuse, six counts of child neglect, and tampering with a witness in the 2008 death of their daughter.
The Barretos didn’t show up for court back in 2009, which spurred the manhunt.
They were on the U.S. Marshal’s Top 15 most wanted list until they were captured near Portland, Oregon a couple weeks ago.
