COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Some concerned citizens in Columbus held a peace gathering at the Coliseum to help put an end to violence.

The Move to Peace organization offered free food and music for those who came out to the rally.

Performances were held by gospel artists including The Heavenly Voices of West Point and Eddie Turner.

In recent weeks, a shooting at the Columbus Fair Grounds turned deadly, leaving the community in shock and looking for change.

Now residents say enough is enough and it’s time to bring peace back to Columbus neighborhoods.

“We just want everybody to understand that there is a time and a place for everything to cease. Life starts and it ends. Violence has started and there’s and ending point to it. If we start here right now moving for peace, the stopping point for violence is sooner than we all may ever know,” says Timothy Davis, who helped organize the event.

The peace rally was sponsored by Sweet Peppers Deli, All American Cash Loans, Car Mart, Logan’s Roadhouse, Exclusive Clothing and many more.
