MS Supreme Court Orders Aldridge To Pay Judgement

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi Supreme Court has let stand a ruling that state Rep. Brian Aldridge pay more than $200,000 to his aunt, whose estate was plundered by his father.

The court, in a 7-1 decision Thursday, declined to hear an appeal from Aldridge.

In March, the state Appeals Court upheld a 2012 ruling by Lee County judge who ordered Aldridge to pay Florence Aldridge $218,355. The judge said even though Brian Aldridge wasn’t personally liable for the more than $522,000 Florence Aldridge lost because of actions by his father, Louis Aldridge, the Tupelo lawmaker was responsible for what happened with their charity through which Louis Aldridge funneled some of her money.

Brian Aldridge is CEO of Touched By An Angel Ministries, which operates a camp for disabled children and adults.
