MSU Basketball Gets Academic Clearance for 6-Foot-11 Center

Fallou Ndoye

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/MSU Athletics) – Incoming freshman Fallou Ndoye has completed the NCAA academic certification process and has been ruled a partial qualifier through an initial-eligibility waiver.

While the 6-foot-11 center from the Senegal isn’t eligible to compete until the 2014-15 campaign, he is allowed to receive his athletic scholarship and participate in all practices and workouts this year as a redshirt.

“The NCAA Eligibility Center did the right thing by granting Fallou this waiver.  All the young man has ever done is successfully complete the course work at his schools.  Our compliance department did a terrific job in presenting this case to the NCAA and staying on top of the situation.  This upcoming season will be extremely beneficial for Fallou’s development ,” MSU coach Rick Ray said.

This past year, Fallou was the starting center for national high school powerhouse Findlay Prep in Nevada, where his team posted a 35-1 ledger after losing in the semifinals of the ESPN National High School Invitaional.

On a team that featured eight players who signed with BCS schools, Ndoye averaged 7 points and 7 rebounds.
