MSU Homecoming Week Events Start Sunday

STARKVILLE, Miss.–Mississippi State’s Student Association is announcing a week of homecoming activities beginning Sunday [Nov. 2].

The varied events conclude the following Saturday [the 8th] with the non-Southeastern Conference football game with the University of Tennessee at Martin and halftime presentation of the 2014 homecoming queen and court.

With this year’s theme of “In Maroon We Trust,” the activities will include:

–Sunday, 7 p.m., worship service, Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Brian Sorgenfrei of the campus Reformed University Fellowship and the University Chorale will lead the program of song and prayer.

–Monday [the 3rd], 10 a.m.-2 p.m., photo booth, Drill Field. Also a 9 p.m. scavenger hunt in which the first pair to finish wins two tickets to the Nov. 15th MSU-University of Alabama football game in Tuscaloosa. See @MSU_SA for rules.

–Tuesday, [the 4th], 7:30 p.m., free concert featuring Young Buffalo, Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium. While there is no cost to attend, tickets are required and may be picked up at the Center for Student Activities, Suite 314, Colvard Student Union, or at the door.

–Wednesday, [the 5th], noon-2 p.m., National Pan-Hellenic Council Yard Show, in front of State Fountain Bakery. At 7 p.m., NPHC sponsors a free performance by comedian Emmanuel Hudson in the Bettersworth Auditorium. While there is no cost to attend, tickets are required and may be picked up at the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center, Suite 220, Colvard Student Union, or at the door.

–Thursday, [the 6th], 7 p.m., #TBT Movie Night, Drill Field, showing of “The Little Rascals.” In case of inclement weather, the event will take place in the union’s Bill Foster Ballroom, Salon M.

–Friday, [the 7th], 5:30 p.m., annual Homecoming Parade begins on College View Drive near the Child Development Center and turns east onto Baily Howell Ave. (formerly Coliseum Boulevard) before turning south on George Perry St., then west on Barr Ave. to B.S. Hood Drive, rounding the Junction and concluding at Dorman Hall.

Also Friday, the NPHC Step Show gets under way at 7 p.m. at the Newell-Grissom Building. The $10 admission tickets may be purchased in advance at the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office, Suite 300, Colvard Student Union, or for $15 at the door.

–Saturday, [the 8th], beginning at noon, Freshman Council Tailgate near the MSU Welcome Center, Cullis Wade Depot, offering free food to freshman students provided by local restaurants.
