MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY (WCBI) – When it comes to nutrition and fitness, “MSU On The Move” considers it a perfect time of the year to lose weight get in shape and know your health numbers.

Having secured a Blue Cross Blue Shield grant, MSU is partnering with Mississippi University For Women and East Mississippi Community College to provide a free health screening initiative.

Blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, waist measurements, and BMI checks are being performed at the Wise Center on the MSU Campus.

“Its so important for people to know their numbers. Because a lot of people are walking around, they don’t realize they have high blood pressure. Until they have a stroke or an emergency happens,” said Dr. Joyce Yates, MSU Health Education Director.

“It provides a service to the faculty and staff at Mississippi State. Plus it also provides a clinical opportunity for our nursing students,” said Debbie Treloar, EMCC Nursing Instructor.
