MSU Players Cleared In Investigation

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – CBS Sports reports that Mississippi State will not be punished for players allegedly receiving improper benefits.

The NCAA notified MSU this weekend to say that it considers the school’s role to be over in the investigation.

State was one of three schools in the SEC listed in a September report that linked former Alabama player Luther Davis as a middle man for agents and prospective NFL draft picks. Alabama was also listed.

Mississippi State began in internal investigation and the NCAA corresponded with the school before deciding that no allegations would be filed.

Yahoo! had reported that Davis purchased airfare for former MSU football players Fletcher Cox and Chad Bumphis while they were still in school.

MSU officials declined to comment to CBS Sports.
