MSU Summer Extravaganza comes to Jackson

STARKVILLE, Miss. (Press Release) — The Central Mississippi Alumni Chapter of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association will host its annual Summer Extravaganza July 17 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.

In its 37th year, this popular fan event brings Bulldog faithful from around the state for a mid-summer celebration of all things Mississippi State. The public event features a host of vendors, athlete and coach meet-and-greets and remarks from university officials, among other activities.

The Mississippi Coliseum is located at 1207 Mississippi Street. Admission is $10 per adult, and tickets can be purchased at the door. MSU students, prospective students, and school-age children will be admitted free.

The extravaganza kicks off at 5:30 p.m., with a Kid Zone available with face painting, games and inflatables. From 5:45 – 6:15 p.m., a mini camp will be hosted by the MSU Cheerleaders, and participants will help them present the new cheer learned to officially launch the program. MSU President Mark E. Keenum, athletic director Scott Stricklin and head football coach Dan Mullen will headline the formal program that beings at 7 p.m.

The Summer Extravaganza is organized and operated by volunteers of the Central Mississippi Chapter, which includes Hinds, Rankin and Madison counties. Of the 95 chapters chartered by the MSU Alumni Association worldwide, the chapter has one of the largest memberships and is one of the most active. Mississippi State has more than 129,000 living alumni worldwide, and many are members of their local chapters.
