MSU’s McDonald Selected for Spirit International Amateur Golf Championships

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/MSU Athletics) – Ally McDonald has been selected to represent the United States Team in the prestigious Spirit International Amateur Golf Championships where she will compete against the world’s best amateur women golfers.

She is the first Mississippi-born player to appear in the event, while alumni include several PGA and LPGA Tour members.

“This is another major accomplishment for Ally,” said fourth-year head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. “She will represent the United States with class and a spirit of competitiveness that will be unmatched.”

Established in 2001, The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championships is played at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. McDonald is joined by Clemson standout Ashlan Ramsey to compete against 19 other countries from six different continents starting on October 30.

McDonald posted a top-5 finish to open her junior season and is set to tee off with the Bulldogs in the Mercedes Benz Women’s Collegiate Championship beginning Friday.
