Murder Suicide Reported in Oxford And Lafayette County

Press release from Oxford Police: “At approximately 9:30am the Oxford Police Department responded to a call on St. Andrews Circle regarding a welfare concern. At approximately the same time the Lafayette County Sheriff’s office was responding to a call on County Road 105 about a possible suicide.

Once both separate scenes were determined safe and the surrounding area was secured the Oxford Police Department and Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office initiated a joint investigation.

At this time, preliminary information indicates that the incident is an apparent murder/suicide of two associated individuals. The investigation has determined that the two individuals, Michael Orange and Sharon Pegues Orange, were killed by gunshot.

The incident is considered an ongoing investigation and no further details are available at this time. As more information is gathered the Oxford Police Department along with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s office will distribute it to the media.”
