UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Union County Heritage Museum receives $500,000 to help with its expansion.

Part of statewide $200 million bond, the money will help pay a little over 1/3 of the expansions total cost. The project is expected to double the size of the museum. The money is designated for the William Faulkner Library, which will hold the Coffey collection of 800 volumes. The expansion will add display rooms, including one for the Chico Foote Collection. The collection has close to 30 mounts from his African and Alaskan expeditions.

The museum will begin a fundraising campaign to supplement the state money.
