Video: My Brother’s Keeper Initiative Comes to Starkville

STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) In September of 2012, President Obama challenged Americans to become members of a My Brother’s Keeper Community.The Oktibbeha County Starkville M.B.K Task Force met Monday night, to talk about the area youth.

The initiative is to keep young people on a positive track, both on their personal time and in the classroom. County and city leaders say the youth of the future of their community, and its important that they make the right choices.

“If we don’t invest and reinvest into our young black of men of color, I think they will possibly have a negative impact on society and society will be negatively impacted because we have overlooked a segment of our community that has a lot of potential,” says Oktibbeha County Supervisor Orlando Trainer.

Starkville Mayor Parker Wiseman along with several others attended tonight’s meeting.
