National Lifeline Awareness Week

(COLUMBUS,Ms) (WCBI) Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley is pushing a program to help elderly and low-income customers stay connected.

That program was explained during one of several stops, this one at the Lowndes County Courthouse in Columbus.

Lifeline gives a discount of up to one hundred eleven dollars a year on home and cell phone bills.

That amounts to nine dollars and fifty cents a month.

“It helps keep consumers money in their pockets. And it helps working families, senior citizens, and others who are struggling to make it right now in today’s economy. We want to make telephone service affordable and available to Mississippians. And this helps them keep some of their money in their pockets,” said Brandon Presley, Northern District Public Service Commissioner.

To access a lifeline application form for a phone bill discount call the  Commissioner’s office at 1-800-356-6428 or 1-800-637-7722.
