NEMCC Names Homecoming Court

Fifteen women comprise the 2012 Homecoming court at Northeast Mississippi Community College. BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Northeast Mississippi Community College sophomore Molly Koon of Booneville was recently selected to reign as the 2012 Homecoming Queen during a student body election held in early October.

Koon and the entire 2012 Homecoming courtwill make their first official appearance at a pep rally on Thursday, October 18 at 11 a.m. on the west lawn behind McCoy Hall on the Booneville campus.

Homecoming activities include various activities by the college’s Student Government Association (SGA) and Student Activities such as a rave, movie night, karaoke and the crowning of the queen at halftime of the Tigers football game against Itawamba Community College on Saturday, October 20. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.

Other events during homecoming week include the Northeast Development Foundation’s “Friends of the Tiger” Golf Classic on Friday, October 19 and the induction of the Northeast Sports Hall of Fame and newly-founded Northeast Alumni Hall of Fame and luncheon at 11 a.m. on Saturday along with the college’s baseball alumni game at 11 a.m.

Northeast’s softball alumni game is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 21.

Koon, a 2011 graduate of Wheeler High School, is the daughter of Craig and Jennifer Koon.

At Northeast, Koon carries a communicative disorders area of concentration.

Koon’s activities at Northeast include being a member of the Showband from Tigerland where she enjoys serving as a TigerDancer.

Koon is also a member of the Tiger Pom Squad and is a diamond girl for the Northeast baseball team.

Koon has also achieved Dean’s Scholar status, is member of Phi Theta Kappa chapter of the Iota Zeta Honor Society and hasbeen named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges during her time at Northeast.

During her freshman year, Koon was elected freshman class homecoming maid, a freshman class favorite, and was selected as a summer orientation counselor.

Joining Koon on the court are sophomore maids Anna Claire Stokes of New Albany, Anna Lauren Inman of Walnut, Bethany Grant and Kelsey Brown, both of Ripley; Brittany Brackeen and Sara Grace Wroten, both of Booneville along with Marlee Tigner of Iuka who was in the run-off for queen.

Six freshmen also comprise the 13-member homecoming court. Abby Little of Corinth, Kristen Whitley of Glen, Brooke Smith of New Albany, Katelin Wallace of Tishomingo and Kelly Davis, Asiyanna McGee and Tabatha Henderson, all of Booneville, round out the 2012 Homecoming court.
