NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) — A Nettleton man is facing a felony charge after fleeing the scene of an accident.

Lee County authorities arrested 26-year-old Mark Sanders in connection with the Monday accident, which left a 23-year-old woman in critical condition.

Sanders, a convicted felon, and an unidentified male reportedly got into an altercation with another individual Sunday night. Both men are believed to have left the residence Sunday night, but returned Monday to pick up where they left off.

Upon leaving the residence the second time, Sanders and the other man allegedly ran over the victim, who had no connection with the altercation, and fled the scene.

“The injuries to the young lady is she has suffered a broken back in a couple of places, a severe injury to her pelvis and her leg area,” Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said. “We do believe, as far as life and death, that she will pull through this, but that is still come and go.”

Sanders was charged with felony fleeing the scene of an accident with injuries. His bond was set at $25,000; his initial court date has been scheduled for March 5.
